This hotel in the part of the old harbour for destinations North- and South America has been established in a historic building of the 1920s which was built by a famous architect to house the European emigrants waiting for the ships of the Lloyd shipping line for their journey to a new life in a different continent. Later it was a prison and thereafter occupied by artists.

You can walk about 20 minutes from the central station or take the tram, 3 stops.

The rooms have been designed by different architects and the hotel comprises 1 to 4 star rooms, although this has nothing to do with the quality of service (there is none) but only to the room size. Most rooms are unpractical and design didnt think of function at all. Free wifi in the lobby which works up to the last floor (quality depending on the actual situation of the room)

The restaurant is special too, you can't order plates but only prepared ingrediants. This has the advantage that you can compose the plate you like. The service depends on the mood of the personnel and can vary from none to excellent.

Overall, the hotel is not bad but much too expensive; they cash on their location with a lot of new office buildings around.
