Kawaiaha%u2018o Church represents the movement from old to new Hawai%u2018i. With its founding came a hope and the fiber with which to build a Christian nation. The Kamehameha Statue is one of the many things to do in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii. The statue stands prominently in front of Ali`iolani Hale in Honolulu, Hawai`i. The statue had its origins in 1878 when Walter M. Gibson, a member of the Hawaiian government at the time, wanted to commemorate the 100 year discovery of Hawai`i by Captain Cook. This is a replica of the original that was lost in a storm but later recovered and stands at the legendary king's birthplace of Kapa`au in Kohala, on the island of Hawai`i
