The town has two restaurants: Stookey's Family Restaurant, open Tuesday-Saturday and regionally famous for their catfish, steaks and onion rings, and the Lost Frontier, a smoky little cafe where farmers and locals gather for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Lost Frontier is also a Pizza King franchise.

The Thorntown Public Library was expanded in 2005 and features free WiFi internet connectivity. In fact, you can even connect from your car in the parking lot.
