Known internationally for the outdoor gallery of gigantic historical murals lining the streets of downtown, Steubenville, Ohio ranks among the top tourist attractions in the United States. OLD FORT STEUBEN
In 1787, Steubenville (Then Fort Steuben) became the gateway to the Northwest Territory, protecting government surveyors while they laid out the first 7 Ranges. The restored fort now hosts an archeological dig and the annual Fort Steuben Festival. Guided tours are available.

FIRST FEDERAL LAND OFFICE
Built in 1801, the first federal land office is a replica of a colonial home. Also located on the grounds is the massive 2 ½ ton bell from the Jefferson County Courthouse. Located next to Old Fort Steuben at 3rd & Adams Streets. Call for an appointment.

HISTORIC MOUNT PLEASANT
25 miles southwest of Steubenville, along the Ohio Scenic Byway, is Historic Mount Pleasant. Tour six historic buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Don't miss the Friends Yearly Meeting House, a Quaker meeting place built in 1814 that seats 2,000 people.
