Serowe is one of Botswana's largest traditional villages and well worth a visit. It is set against rocky hills to the east. The village also boasts several other areas that are rather picturesque and worthy of viewing during morning or late afternoon.
Khama Memorial museum shows the development of Botswana from the nomadic time of Khama the Great to the independance of Botswana in Seretse Khamas time and houses the Bessie Head collection 'manuscripts'.
Just outside Serowe is the Khama Rhino Sanctuary which is a tribal project to save the last remaining Rhino in Botswana (6) and breed Rhino with the ultimate objective of re entroducing them to the wild, the herd has increased to 30 over the last 10 years, a sucesses story unmatched.
From this village, travellers can move on to Central Kalahari Game Reserve via Orapa and continue on to Maun through the Makgadikgadi Pans. The village provides lodging facilities.
