Rio Verde means green river.  It is a booming town of approximately 150,000 habitants. The economy in Rio Verde is fed largely by the corn, soybean and milo producers.  In the last 7 years there is a hog and chicken (Perdigão) outfit that has moved in creating many jobs as well as a ketchup processing plant.  There is a Russian colony north of Rio Verde and an American colony northwest of Rio Verde.
