The Queyras Regional Natural Park is south of Grenoble and Briançon and to the far east of France bordering on Italy. It enjoys a micro-climate of its own and has sun for over 300 days in a year. It is much less frequented and somewhat lower than the better known areas further north in Savoie and Haut-Savoie but it is extremely beautiful with some of the best Alpine flower meadows in France.
Walking up towards Monte Viso [in Italy] from the far east part of the area, you will be unlucky if you dont see a number of marmots and hear their piercing whistle.
