Oswiecim (Auschwitz in German) is unfortunatley best known for the German / Nazi death and concentration camps of World War II. Millions of Jewish people were exterminated there, along with hundreds of thousands of other 'political enemies' of the Third Reich.

The camps, complete with gas mass-extermination chambers and crematorioms, along with graphic artifacts, are preserved, and today the camps are open as a musuem reminding us to 'never forget'.
