Today, Murfeesboro is one of the largest cities in the state, featuring great shopping, excellent restaurants and plentiful hotels. Come visit our handsome town square boasting one of the last remaining pre-Civil War courthouses in the state. The square also saw some of the fighting during Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest's liberation of the town from Union occupation in July of 1862.
