Mundakayam is the Gateway of the High Range of Kerala State (Gods own country), southern part of India, which is located at the eastern border of Kottyam and Idikki Districts and in the middle part of KottayamKumily Road, exactly 55 Kilometers away from Kottayam towards the East and 55 Kilometers away from Kumily ( Border of Kerala State & Tamil Nadu State ) towards the West. The NH-220 ( Kollam - Theni National Highway ) passes through Mundakayam.
Mundakayam is a land of spices and natural Rubber. With a great pride, we could say that the rubber plantations in India had originated from Mundakayam, which was introduced by a European from England named Mr. J.J.Murphy around 1930. He had imported the relevant machineries from Scotland pertained to the Rubber Industry and lit the fire of the natural rubber boom in India which had been producing the rubber sole for the Foot Wears Industries and exported all over the world since 1930. Many Tea Estates had already opened at the out skirts of Mundakayam by the Europeans Companies during these decades.
Mundakayam had conducted an All India Agricultural & Industrial Exhibition in the year 1967, which was organized by MCC (Mundakayam Civic Center), participated by many reputed organizations and leading Industries all over India.
