Moab is a wonderful place. It is about 10 minutes drive to Arches National Park (NP) and about 30 minutes drive to Canyonland NP. Stores along the highway are very yuppie liked and people-friendly. There are two large grocery stores which serve the population there and cities nearby. The tap water taste funny; so, buy gallon of distilled water from them. One of the store is City Market (425 S. Main. 435.259.5181). Don't forget ice-cream in summer. :)
I camped at the Archview Resort Camp Park (800-813-MOAB) in May, 2004. Conveniently located near the intersection of Highway 191 and Highway 313. It is the gateway to both Arches and Canyonland NP. It is new and offers the cleanest shower room and toilet among all places Ive hiked. The drawback is that it is located next to the highway, so, noise from by-passing truck can be a problem. Problem is gone after using ear-plugs. :) There are many other hotels and motels. They can get booked during holidays seasons. It even has a free modem hook-up for downloading emails. I didn't try its upload.
Have fun!
