Winter sports mecca for skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling; in the summer there's good fishing. Festival highlights include Art On The Rocks art festival and the Hiawatha music festival. Marquette is a small town with some big city flair, and the local university (Northern Michigan University) is a big boom for the city. The UP 200 is a dogsled race that starts on the Main Street of Marquette every February. Northern Michigan University is home to the USOEC (US Olympic Education Center), the Superior Dome (the world's largest wooden dome), and an excellent NCAA college hockey team. The place to be in Northern Michigan, Marquette is a great little city that shouldn't be overlooked.
