Junagadh, which means 'Old Fort', is named after the Uparkot fort. Although not many travellers make the effort to go to Junagadh, it is a nice town with some interesting sights and good museums, such as the Sakkarbag and Darbar Hall Museum. The famous Girnar temples are located on a hill, some eight kilometres away from Junagadh. It will take you at least 200 steps before you reach the Jain temples. The famous poet Narsiha Mehta comes from Junagadh.
