Picturesque town with old whaling captian homes, white greek revival architecture.  Cute 'main' street crowded with shops for souvenirs, antiques, preppy clothes and ice cream.  Edgartown is a bit pricer and more 'formal' than other Vineyard towns but at least worth a visit if not your base for exploration on the island.
