As if straight out of a child's imagination, the château de Val could be considered as the archetypal medieval fortress with its magnificent setting, evocative of battles and cloak-and-dagger scenes, but also with its atmosphere of medieval art and love. strength and gentleness, such are the characteristic features which emanate from the Château and its surroundings. In the main courtyard we can see a gothic chapel dedicated to Saint-Blaise.

We enter the château by a door armed with iron, whose tympanum bears the fleur-de-lys coat-of-arms of the d'Estaing family. The first floor consists of three large furnished rooms whose decoration (ceilings and fireplaces) dates from the middle of the XIXth century. The second floor is set aside for the exhibition of the work of the greatest contemporary artists. On the top floor, the parapet-walk has a splendid panoramic view over the lake. The visit ends with the timber framework of one of the towers, an interesting piece of work by XVth century 'compagnons' (masters builders).
