Calistoga is a small charming town of round and about 5,000 inhabitants and located at the foot of mount St. Helena. It is well known for its hot springs (isn't it about time that you had your first mud-bath?) and the old faithful geyser of California. The town itself has one of the oldest depots in California and the Sharpsteen Museum, named after Ben Sharpsteen who is known for his work as a producer for Walt Disney. However, don't expect Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. The museum gives a nice overview of the history of Calistoga. Several historical remnants can still be traced in the town itself, such as the Bale Grist Mill and the Sam Brannon Cottage.
Besides that, Calistoga is a good starting-point for exploration of the Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. The state park comprises a vast area filled densily with pine groves and because of the several elevations it is an interesting area to go walking and picknicking.
