Brainerd is located in North central Minnesota and it is also known as the Brainerd Lakes Area because of the abundance of lakes and waterways. The Lakes Area is home to many popular lakes including Gull Lake on which there are many fisihing tournaments in the summer and winter months. The Brainerd Jaycees hold the annual $100,000 Fishing Tournament on this lake. People come from all over the country to sit on the ice and try to catch fish.
Brainerd was once known the world over for Paul Bunyanland with the worlds largest talking statue, Paul. Unfortunately, the park was taken out and a Kohl's now resides there, but Paul, Babe, and the rides can be found at This Old Farm, an antique museum just outside of town
Brainerd is also famous for the Brainerd International Raceway where national car races and other races are held every summer.
Brainerd also has many resorts, hotels, and other tourist lodging. Some of the resorts include Maddens, Breezy Point, Craguns, Kavannaghs, and many more.
Just outside of Brainerd lies Nisswa, famous for its specialty boutiques and shops in its downtown area. It is also home to turtle races in the summer.
