Ardmore, in south central Oklahoma, is the capital of Oklahoma's Fun Country.  It is about halfway between Oklahoma City and Dallas.  It affords easy access to the Arbuckle Mountains, Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Lake Murray State Park, and Lake Texoma State Park.

It is one of several Oklahoma cities along the railroad between Dallas and Oklahoma City that was named named after cities on the Pennsylvania line, and was founded in 1887.
