Fermont is a town of 2000 inhabitants 1200 kms north from Montréal,
close to the border between Québec and Labrador. It has been built only 35 years ago for the workers of a mine and their family. There is a very long building there called "le mur" (the wall) It is maybe 2 kilometres long and 4 floors high, in there are all shops, pub, swimming pool, some appartements, an hotel and more. All the houses are built behind that wall which protects them from the very strong and cold winter wind.
In summer température are around 20° in july and there is almost no nght. In winter, it goes under -30° and you can see northern lights. To go there we drove for 2 days, the last 400 kms on a gravel road.

Montréal is big, crowded, it is all perpendicular streets like in a movie from the US.
I stayed at two hostels there: le collège français, which is probably the cheapest place in town (15 $ a night in dorm), I like that, and l'auberge alternative du vieux montréal, which is more expensive, but really nice with a good kitchen in a beautiful place.
it was just magnificent! you'd really feel the vibrations of this huge, huge falls! it will make your heart pound faster. and the canadian side's got the best view.
there are a lot of things going on in toronto, that i don't even know where to begin. i think they took me downtown first. i saw the old city hall with its distinctive clock tower, and the new one opposite it which was designed by a finnish architect. both structures were beautiful. the modern one even became part of the city's logo. then of course just in front of the new city hall is the nathan
philips square, a public space with a fountain that turns into a skating rink on winter.
mark described the town as something out of the hit tv series, gilmore girls. i had to agree. i love old and small towns a lot. and this one is also some sort or a university town since it's got trent university. lots of college kids at night in small bars, cafes and restaurants. there's that indie feel.
