Golden Roof Innsbruck

X-mas in Innsbruck is an unforgetable experience. Everything is right: great atmosphere, very nice people, socialising at the x-mas market and traditional tyrolean food - you would be surprised, it is far ahead of the nouvelle ciusine -, a beautiful landscape around you and ancient buildings in a modern town. Well allmost all is right. You would expect snow in the middle of winter in the alps and not a 20 degree and people hanging out with t-shirts....you can't have everything in the warmest minter in the last 100 years or so.

Even though located in the beatiful landscape in the middle of the alps, Watten in the Tyrolean mountains has not to offer much. Ans still, millions of Japanese visit this village year by year. You ask why? Simple. You will find the headquater, production site and museaum of Swarovsky there. Most likely, the finest and most famous crystal cutting company in the world. Lately they opened their own museum, just next to their plan and are attracting tourists from all over the world. Well, more precisely, 99% are coming straight from Japan....or that is how you feel.

Actually the museum does not have a lot to offer and I would consider it a waste of time and money to pass there. The exhibition changes once a while but is less than worthwhile to see.The most impressive parts are the entrance, an artificial waterfall coming out of the mouth of the face shaped artificial mountain. Real great. Apart from that, I would recommend the showroom. You do not pay entrance fee for that but if you have your girlfriend with you it will cost you a furtune.....I talk out of experience here.

Das Triest Vienna

DAS TRIEST has been designed as a counterpart of the standard rooms in most hotels and offers all the exclusiveness and amenities. Ideally situated near to the city centre (Karlsplatz) you can do all the sites by walking.

The building, called STADT TRIEST (city of Trieste) was originally used as the main station and a stable for the horses pulling the stage-coaches between Vienna and Triest. These old cross-vaulted rooms, which give the building a distinctive flair, have been transformed into lounges, suites and meeting rooms. Interior design: Sir Terence Conran

During his professional life Sir Terence Conran combined a huge number of interests; he built up shops, employed himself with architecture and design and furnished restaurants. In 1956 he founded the Conran Design Group with offices in London, Paris and Hongkong. The Conran Shops in London, Paris and Tokio offer modern interior design and furnishing. His restaurants in London are: Bibendum at Michelin building, Blueprint Cafe at the Design Museum, Le Pont de la Tour, Quaglino's and Mezzo. In conjunction with Conran Octopus Ltd. Terence Conran has, among others, published books on design.

It is a designer hotel but the rooms are very convenient so style does not contradict function

The person in this picture was one of our snowboard teachers, this crazy austrian dude. I don't think i've seen him fall. Except the time i pushed him over so i could win the race back to the restaurant :)
