ADDITIONAL REQUESTS The wedding packages can be tailored to suit your every need, allowing you to put a bit of your personality in every part of your wedding. We will make your wedding on Zanzibar as amazing as you could ever have dreamed, so if you have an additional request, please ask us and we will do our very best to make it happen. Please bear in mind that we are on a tropical island, and that logistics and the weather can sometimes be very limiting. And no, we are not able to offer ice sculptures, they would melt on the beach?yes we have been asked. DRESS CODE Weddings on the beach are an informal event - barefoot and fabulous. Having said that, we have had some brides who have donned magnificent designer dresses, which have sparkled on the beach at Mtoni Marine. It must be remembered that the Jimmy Choes and Manolo Blahniks need to be removed before boarding boats and dresses need to be hoisted up! Please keep in mind the weather when planning outfits, Zanzibar is hot and humid year round. Smart casual is perfect for a wedding on the beach.  THE MINISTER
Father Charles of the local Anglican Church conducts all our
wedding ceremonies. He likes to meet the couples beforehand to run
through the formalities.
The majority of the weddings take place in the late afternoon to
early evening. This is a beautiful time of the day in Zanzibar. The
sun is setting and the photographs always turns out stunningly.
You read a lot on the internet about what is required for a world
wide recognized legal wedding in Zanzibar, but by following our step
by step notes and copying the sample documents is as easy as 1, 2, 3
"I Do"!
Step-by-Step Notes on Documents required for religious and official ceremony on Zanzibar:
The marriage certificate issued by the Anglican Cathedral is legal and is recognized worldwide.
However copies of certain documents are required in advance in order to ensure the process goes smoothly. These documents can be either faxed or emailed to us, but certified copies should be brought with you.
1. Certified copy* of picture page of the passport from both the bride ad groom 2. Personal letter of intent from the couple to get married on Zanzibar (Please see sample to be used below) 3. Certified copy* of the birth certificate of both bride and groom 4. Copies of any previous marriage and/or divorce certificates from both parties. (Eligibility of both parties to be married needs to be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt) 5. A letter from a noted professional, such as a doctor or lawyer, stating that the couple is free to be married. It needs to be presented on letterhead paper and stamped by the professional themselves.
*Copies of original documents can be certified at your local police station or post office Commissioner of Oath / Justice of the Peace.

RECOMMENDED ACCOMMODATION  villas A dhow is a traditional Zanzibari sailing vessel with one or more lateen sails. They are made of wood and are a common sight along the Zanzibar coastline. For celestial navigation, dhow sailors have traditionally used the kamal. This observation device determines latitude by finding the angle of the Pole Star above the horizon. Up to the 1960s, dhows made commercial journeys between the Persian Gulf and East Africa using only sails as a means of propulsion. The freight was mostly dates and fish to East Africa and mangrove timber to the lands in the Persian Gulf. Today they are still widely used in trade and transport, but often make use of motors. Additional Dhows - 16 people per Dhow $700.-USD Additional Dhows can be arranged at your request. The maximum number of guests on each Dhow is set at 16, allowing your guests to enjoy their Dhow ride in comfort and safety. The cost for an extra Dhow includes wine, soda and water.

Pemba Island Channel Humpback Whale Season Started.
They are heading south. We saw a mother and calf most of the day moving very slowly and the next day we saw a single whale, probably a male. The mornings are calm and so it is possible to either kayak out or jump in a boat and skirt nearby them as they are seen on the horizon. Afternoons when the wind kicks up the waves, it?s best to enjoy the sightings with a pair of binoculars from the verandah. This phenomenon we expect to continue till September. Zanzibar- Zanzibar East Coast was named as one of the top island beaches in the world standing shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Petit St Vincent in the St Vincent and the Grenadines, Plaza de las Salinas in Ibiza, Shipwreck Beach in Zakynthos to name a few. Zanzibar's East Coast was noted for its "safe swimming, seldom crowded, hotel, cafes, bars and natural shade." The article says: "This 12 mile beach on the Zanzibar East Coast is populated mostly by locals-fisherman wading to their boats, brightly dressed women husking coconuts or gathering seaweed, kids with dreams knocking around a deflated football."
