This is a very nice route to spend a full day. Especially if you end up at dawn in Almuñecar. The mountains 15 km before you arrive in Almuñecar are one of a kind and really awesome. If you are lucky you will see 100´s of eagles floating on the thermical hot air between to very rocky and rough mountain peaks.
The route is very beautiful in general and Alhama the Granada is a nice place for a lunch or a drink. Alhama is also famous for it´s springs and you can have all kinds of healing baths, massages and treatments.
Do not forget your camera. Go there every season of the year, no problem.

In Wilnis you can eat at Brasserie De Waard . The only acceptable restaurant there. Wilnis lies within the Green Heart of Holland 20km below Amsterdam.
Zeist is a quiet town in the centre of Holland, very green and widespread. Located 10 km from Utrecht it is a very popular place to live because of the quietness and culture within reach.
In the town of Bunnik, close to Zeist there is the pancake house Rhijnauwen where the pancakes are delicious and the atmosphere is excellent. It is located at the bank of the river 'Kromme Rijn', and when the sun shines it is a beautiful place to be. You can rent a canoe and enjoy the river and riverside and see the old Utrecht land estates. The glamour of the old Dutch past.
Go to the Jordan area and see some local places like Cafe Nol (typical Dutch music), Cafe de Tuin (nice sitting and chatting). And a very good spanish Tapa place is 'El Quijote' in the 1e Keucheniusstraat in the area Staatliedenbuurt. Here you also find cafe Amsterdam.
And there is much more
El Cañuelo is a beautiful quiet little dwelling north of Lake Viñuela some 5 km's from the village of Periana. They rent out village houses, mostly to English and they have a simple but very nice restaurant with a massive view, really impressive and very nice to have some food or a drink. Everything to it: a nice pool with poolbar and various acitivities are organized mostly in the weekends.
In the hot summer it is a bit cooler because of the height. In winter it cna be cold.
To get there, follow the signs from Periana or ask around.
The Island 'Ile Saint Marie' is a very paradise island of about 30km long and 5 to 10 km wide that lies 1 or 2 km of the coast (east) and north of the second city Toamasina (Tamatave as the locals say).
Ile saint Marie really is a magic spot. On this little island you find 3 or 4 micro climates, unbelievable beaches (watch out on the east side since the ocean is wild and there happen to be sharks) and some waterfalls.
Although one of the main attractions of Madagascar, it is still quiet. In the season there are large groups of whales trekking north or south (between Ile sainte Marie and mainland Madagascar) and they also stay there for mating. Incredible!
If you ask around, you will find an old pirates graveyard and a ruin of a former prison. There are still small tribes of local people living there without having any idea what the rest of the world is like.
There is a little town where ferries from mainland go and a little airport with connections to the main cities of Madagascar. Just ask in these places where you have to go and people will tell you. On the island you will find budget hostals up to some expensive resorts. Restaurants are more or less everywhere as well.
Rent a bicycle for some beautiful rides or to move yourself around, there are also 'taxi's' but they are not there when you need them and do not forget to do some snorkelling or diving.
Bodega El Pimpi is a very nice place to settle down in a authentic spanish way in downtown Malaga. It is large, pretty old (some 60 years) and has a very Spanish atmosphere. Besides drinks, they serve many small dishes too. Defenitely a good place to take out friends.
If you are fed up with all the typical spanish restaurants with their usually good but very similar menu's, you want something different and you do not mind to spend a little extra, go to restaurant 'La Casa del Angel' (House of the Angel) in Malaga, just opposite of the 'Cervantes theatre'. (Teatro Cervantes)
La Casa del Angel is a museum restaurant. You dine in a very classic surroundings full of paintings and artefacts, some even dating back 400 to 500 years. Among many others Picasso is present as well. Defenitely something different, although a bit more expensive as well.
Casa Matilde is a nice place to have lunch or dinner. Although all usual spanish dishes are on the menu, this place has very good sea food. Also try the fried aubergine with honey (berenjenas fritas con miel). On nice days you can sit at a table in the grass overlooking the see (and perhaps taking a swim).
Venta El Curro is a nice typical Spanish restaurant, owned by José (Pepe) who is very friendly and helps you with whatever question you may have. We have tried the bocadillos, they were good!
Nerja is the most beautiful town on the coast of the Axarquia. It is quite a romantic place with a nice town centre. It is worthwile to visit the
Balcon de Europa with a beautiful view over the Mediteranean and the nearby coast. After that choose one of the many bars or restaurants that are behind the Balcon around the square.
vancouver is beautiful city with nice people, good nightlife and close to nature, skiiing (whistler and blackcombe) and close to the islands where life is nice and quiet
The Axarquia is the most Eastern region of the Malaga province in Andalucia. The best know towns in the Axarquia are Velez-Malaga, Nerja, Torre del Mar, Rincon de la Victoria, Torrox, Competa.
Unlike the Western part of Malaga, the Axarquia is less crowded and not (yet) so much developed. Especially inland there are many little 'white' villages where life is still relatively quiet and authentical.
